RB Adrian Peterson Considering Groin Surgery

Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson is scheduled to visit Philadelphia-based specialist Dr. William Meyers next week to evaluate his troublesome groin and decide if surgery is needed, a person with knowledge of the situation told Tom Pellisero of USA Today on Saturday.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss the situation publicly.

Peterson, 28, missed two of the Vikings’ last three games because of the groin as well as a foot injury and dropped out of the Pro Bowl last week.

Meyers performed Peterson’s sports hernia surgery after last season. One possibility for relieving groin pain is an adductor release, which is minimally invasive, cuts an irritated tendon and would require about two months of rehabilitation.

The groin was an issue since at least mid-November, most notably hobbling Peterson in a Nov. 17 loss at Seattle. He finished the season with 1,266 rushing yards in 14 games, one year after winning the MVP and rushing for 2,097.

OK, so let’s assume that he decides to go ahead and have this groin surgery within the next few weeks. THAT MEANS that he’ll have the biggest part of seven months or thereabouts to heal from it well enough to be able to play full tilt.
After his ACL injury in December of 2012, and his subsequent surgery and recovery, All Day was at least at 98%, and was more than ready to go (and did) on opening day of the 2013 season, about 8 1/2 or 9 months after his injury. By ALL ACCOUNTS, a remarkable achievement. Face it, the mans’ a freak of nature, a phenom, almost inhuman!! and to ALL OF THE NAYSAYERS OUT THERE, G.O.A.T., HANDS DOWN. The completely INSANE season he had in 2012, immediately after his ACL surgery and recovery PROVES IT.
He could’ve EASILY beaten Dickerson’s record that last day of the 2012 regular season, although I am STILL TRYING to figure out WHY they pulled him out of that game 9 YARDS SHY OF THE RECORD!!! 9 STINKING YARDS!!! That just wasn’t fair, and Peterson will FOREVER BE OWED SOMETHING FROM THE VIKING ORGANIZATION FOR SERVING HIM SUCH A TERRIBLE INJUSTICE!!!
But as far as the groin surgery goes, he’ll easily heal from that completely in plenty of time to be ready to rock and roll in 2014. SKOL VIKINGS!!!!
