Pricing For New Vikings Stadium Seat License Range From $500 To $9,500

The Vikings unveiled pricing details Friday for their new stadium now under construction in downtown Minneapolis, Doug Belden of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. The prices were largely in line with the parameters they announced in October.

The new stadium has 65,400 seats, about 3,400 of which are inside suites and thus handled separately.

Of the 62,000 remaining seats, roughly 50,000 require the one-time purchase of a seat license — which the team refers to as a “stadium builder’s license” — in order to buy a season ticket for that seat.

Some fans have objected to paying a fee on top of paying for the seats, but the team says seat licenses have been used at 17 of the NFL’s 32 stadiums. They also say theirs is cheaper than the seat-license programs at recently opened NFL stadiums and comparable to programs at Midwestern stadiums like St. Louis, Green Bay and Chicago.

The license fees range from $9,500 for the $400 seats — which come with access to an on-field club adjacent to the team’s locker room — to $500 for the $50 seats way up high.

Even higher up, behind the $50 seats, are 12,000 or so seats that can be purchased without buying a seat license. The team hasn’t assigned a price for those yet.
